Charters Road Closed for Forcemain Construction March 7-25, 2022

Wednesday, March 2, 2022 – Charters Road will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian access Monday, March 7, 2022 to Friday, March 25, 2022 from Throup Road to Golledge Avenue for forcemain construction (underground servicing installation) to the BC Housing project at 2170 Charters Road.

Residents must use an alternative route while this work is completed (accommodations will be made for local residents only). Signage and barricades will be in place.

The district is working with School District 62 and school buses will be re-routed from March 7th to 18th.  Drop off and pick-up times for students with buses typically travelling on Charters Road may experience minor delays. [waiting approval from SD62]

Minor delays should also be expected on Church Road during this construction due to increased traffic on the road. Those using Church Road are reminded to allow a few extra minutes for their travels.

Patience, while this work is completed, is appreciated.

Related – The district is awaiting a response from Emergency Management BC regarding its application for funding for major roadworks on Charters (required due to recent storm damage). The forcemain construction for this road closure is specific to the BC Housing project.

While the district was hopeful the major roadworks and forcemain construction would align, funding status has not yet been received so the projects will proceed independently.
