Campfire Ban Remains in Effect for Southern Vancouver Island

Friday, September 3, 2021 – The District of Sooke is clarifying that a campfire ban remains in effect for Southern Vancouver Island, including Sooke. While at noon today, a partial lifting of the ban within the Coastal Fire Centre will occur, this lifting does not include the South Island Resource District.

With low rainfall in our region, high-risk activities also remain prohibited.

“We appreciate the public’s cooperation with the current fire regulations and campfire ban. Our community remains as one of only a few areas in the Province still in an Extreme Fire Danger rating,” Acting District of Sooke Fire Chief, Cam Norris-Jones, shares.
