Broomhill Park Community Clean Up A Success

NEWS RELEASE

Sooke, BC– The District of Sooke would like to thank the 35 dedicated volunteers that came out to the Broomhill Park Community Clean Up on November 16, 2019. The event was organized by the District of Sooke and the Juan de Fuca Community Trails Society and focused on restoring Helgesen Stream and Broomhill Park greenspace.

“Council is very grateful to all of our volunteers who assisted in this mass clean up of Broomhill Park” says Mayor Maja Tait. Our hard-working volunteers helped to remove over 500 pounds of garbage and debris from Helgesen Stream and the surrounding forest as well as 8 cubic yards of invasive daphne laurel, holly and English ivy from the forest.

Replanting native plants in some of the forested areas of the park is planned for 2020. To be notified of future events, please email parks@sooke.ca
