Councillor Ron Dumont
RON DUMONT, born in Vancouver, came to Sooke in 1953 at the age of twelve.
Ron has a long-standing interest in local politics, winning election as Regional Director, serving a two-year term, 1974-75. It was during his tenure that the Sooke Arena was built and the groundwork laid for Sooke's first Community Plan.
Ron and his wife Gail have raised two sons, own and invested in local businesses and are involved in community activities.
Serving on a 1990's incorporation study committee. Ron re-entered politics and was elected to Sooke's first Council in 2000. Ron was re-elected to the District of Sooke Council in 2005 and 2008.
