Fire and Life Safety Education and Prevention

The Sooke Fire Department has a  dedicated team of volunteers that is committed to providing critical life saving training to all residents and businesses within the community.  Through a variety of programs, these members of Sooke Fire Rescue are available to train any age group and any occupation in the steps required to make your home or business safer from fire and other emergencies.   All programs are offered at no charge to participants and include:

  • Fire Extinguisher Training
  • Fire Safety in the Workplace
  • Fire Safety Training for Restaurant Owners and Employees
  • Fire Safety for Seniors
  • Fire Station Tours
  • Annual Fire Safety Expo for Grade 3 and 4 students
  • Fire Smart - Wildland Fire Safety Program
  • Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention Program

Members also attend structure fires at the request of the incident commander to provide guidance and assistance to homeowners and victims of fire.   Using the recently created "After the Fire" booklet, members will steer you through those first few hours after the emergency and dealing with the complexities of insurance companies, fire investigation procedures and any other difficulties you may encounter.
